        1. Hi Ray

Thank you for getting in touch. Yes it is possible to sail on the Fishguard to Rosslare route with a motorcycle. Sailing prices on a Sunday start from £75. I hope this helps.

      2. Hi , i am a UK passport holder but my wife is a Thai passport holder (Thai Citizen)can she travel to Rosslare > She has leave to remain in the UK

        1. Hi Vance

Thank you for getting in touch. Unfortunately, we here at Ferryto.EU cannot answer that question. Your wife will have to speak to the Thai embassy to see if her visa will allow for this travel. I am sorry we cannot offer any more advice.

      3. We are going to Ireland starting south and travelling north can we use the Fishguard ferry to Rosslare going and Dublin to Holyhead return

        1. Hi Barry

Of course you can! We think this is a wonderful idea! Taking your car on the ferry gives you the freedom to explore this beautiful country! When booking select return trip (as normal), then just click on Depart and change it to Fishguard to Rosslare. Then click on Return and select Dublin to Holyhead. Its as simple as that. We hope you have the most amazing time!

      4. Sorry if this is a daft question, but, although my wife and I are british citizens, our two dogs have French passports. Will this be a problem traveling from Fishguard to Rosslare. Thanks in advance,
People should try traveling to France if they think this crossing is expensive. To save you any trouble, just send me a link about the dogs, i’ll work it out. Cheers

        1. Hi John

Firstly, there is no such thing as a daft question. Believe me, we have been asked way worse than that before! So when travelling with dogs, pet passports are no longer accepted. You will need an Animal Health Certificate, as well as a few other things. Why not check out our handy guide on Travelling with Dog – Passports and Vaccinations, for more information. I hope this helps.

      5. Hi, we are looking at going over to various parts of Ireland this year, with a view to checking out locations to live. Firstly, do I need a passport as mine needs the name changing due to getting married recently but Ive held off due to the passport delays. Would my marriage certificate suffice with my passport in my old name as there are still 7 years to run on it. Thanks.

        1. Hi Angela,

I am assuming that you are a British Citizen, for the purpose of this post. Unfortunately, your marriage certificate would not count as a valid form of ID. It needs to be photographic. If Your passport is still valid under your maiden name, I suggest you book travel under your maiden name (If you haven’t already changed your name). If you have changed your name, just not on your passport, you could use your driving licence. See Some information below:

If you are a British / Irish citizen travelling across the Irish Sea you do not need a valid passport. However, you will need to bring a form of identification with you. This can one of the following items:

          A valid passport.
          photographic driving license.
          International Student Card.
          government issued photo ID card.
          health insurance/social security photographic card.
          photographic bus/train pass.
EU Citizen Identity Card will usually suffice.
A birth certificate will provide adequate proof of identity for children (17 years and under with no photographic identification) to travel on our sailings.
If you are a British / Irish citizen travelling to mainland Europe you must bring a valid passport.

If you are not a British / Irish citizen, you will need a passport.

*Remember the name on your passport must match your booking.

          * Remember passports must be valid for at least 6 months past the date of return.

          I hope this helps.

          1. Is the information above correct and up to date as of august 2023
as I was my mums passport has ran out and wonder if other forms of id were expectable especially now as the South of Ireland is now in EU

            1. Hi Caroline

The information regarding the crossing between Fishguard and Rosslare is correct, as of August 2023.

If your mum is a British / Irish citizen, she does not need a valid passport. However, you will need to bring a form of identification with you. Acceptable forms of ID include:

              – A valid passport.
              – photographic driving license.
              – International Student Card.
              – government issued photo ID card.
              – health insurance/social security photographic card.
              – photographic bus/train pass.
              – EU Citizen Identity Card will usually suffice.

We have a handy guide called “Passports and Identification” which has more information. I hope this helps.

      6. I am looking for a Price for either a Hyundia Tuscon suv or Motorhome, + 3 adults over 65
I can either hire the motorhome from UK or Ireland
Just trying to find the best way,
The dates are 28th May returning on the 10th June.

        1. Hi Walter

Thank you for getting in touch. Now, these quotes are for the smallest car size and smallest motorhome size. You will have to check exact dimensions yourself. I have also only quoted for Economy Tickets, these are the cheapest options (you may wish to upgrade to Flexi or Premium but this will increase the costs). I have also select the cheapest time to sail (there are other times to sail, but it will increase the price).

I used the dates: 28th May and 10th June.

I have priced for 3 adults over the age of 65.

          Car – approximately £452
          Motorhome – approximately £492
          Foot Passenger – approximately £216

          I hope this helps.

        1. Hi Louise

Yes, Cats are able to travel on this ferry crossing. Cats have to be pre-booked onboard. So you will have to state at the time of booking if your cat is going to go into the onboard kennels or will remain in your car.

          By car
Kennels can be pre-booked at no extra charge or if you prefer, your pet can remain in the vehicle for the duration of the crossing. You can pre-book a kennel on the “Stena Plus & Onboard Extras” step of the booking process. Please note that we have a limited number of kennels available. You must advise us that you intend to bring a pet in advance of travel when you book.

It may be possible to arrange to visit your car mid-voyage to check on your cat – the car deck is not accessible to passengers once the ship has sailed so you would need to be escorted, so visits depend on the availability and discretion of the crew – but it is highly unlikely that he/she will be allowed to leave your vehicle. You therefore need to prepare in such a way which ensures he/she is comfortable and happy during the journey. It may also be possible to arrange a visit to your cat in the kennels during the crossing.

Any food or water your pet will require during the crossing you will have to take with you.

Under the EU pet movement system, all pet dogs, cats and ferrets moving between EU Member States must meet the same animal health rules. All pets travelling between the Republic of Ireland and the UK or Continental Europe and between the UK and Continental Europe must be micro chipped and accompanied by a pet passport. Please note it is your responsibility to provide all necessary documents and make all arrangements including where necessary quarantine, to satisfy all legal requirements. I hope this helps.

      7. During early 2020 We booked a return ferry to Ireland ,which due to COVID I put on hold. Sadly since then I have been burgled and have lost all details of our booking. I would like to book my crossing for 2022, however, I have no records available. Can you help please ?
        Kind Regards
        John Hampson

        1. Hi John

I am so sorry to hear about all that’s happened to you. I hope you and your family are all ok. Since it was booked through Stena, you probably created an account with them when you booked. On the Stena Line Homepage, on the top left corner just under the search bar you will see a link “Login/Manage my booking”. Click on the link and try entering your email address and password in here. If you did create an account all your information will be stored there, so you can amend you booking from there. If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest calling Stena Line directly and explain everything that’s happened. You can call them directly on: 03447 707 070, they will have all your details recorded, so will be able to help you and amend your booking. Sorry we cannot help you directly, but I hope this at least points you in the right direction.

        1. Hi Sian

You need a pet passport for your dog if they’ll be travelling:
          • to the UK from an EU country, or another country the UK accepts pet passports from
          • from the UK to a listed or unlisted country and then returning to the UK – you cannot do this after your pet’s rabies vaccination has expired.
From 1 January 2021, the rules for travelling to EU countries with your pet will change. You should start the process at least 4 months before you travel.
If they’re coming from a listed or unlisted country, you need a third-country official veterinary certificate if they do not have a pet passport.
You must bring originals of all your pet’s documents, not photocopies.

A vet must treat your dog for tapeworm and record it in the pet passport or third-country official veterinary certificate every time you want to bring it to the UK.
The treatment must have been given no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours (5 days) before you enter the UK. Your dog can be refused entry or put into quarantine if you do not follow this rule.
You do not need to treat your dog for tapeworm if you’re coming di-rectly to the UK from Finland, Ireland, Malta or Norway.
          The treatment must:
          • be approved for use in the country it’s being given in
          • contain praziquantel or an equivalent proven to be effective against the Echinococcus multilocularis tapeworm

          Hope this helps!

      8. hi we have a dog and will be travelling by car in july. I noted the comments about motorhomes and kennels on deck. If we don’t get a kennel where can we let the dog out of the car if not the deck.
We would be travelling from fishguard on Saturday the 9th of july and returning Friday the 22nd.
        kind regards

Please note that pets cannot be taken onboard in a pet carrier on this route. I hope this helps.

      9. i am indian passport holder working in northern ireland in a Tier 2 general migrant visa. is it possible for me to travel through Rosslare to Fishguard without an irish visa?

        1. Hi Thomoson

Going to Ireland has never been easier. An online visa application facility for Ireland is available to Indian visitors. You can apply online in the visa section of the INIS website. Applicants must then submit their passports and documentation to the VFS Visa Application Centres in 13 cities across India. All visit visa applications take up to 10 weeks of processing time. To be fair to all applicants, applications will only be considered in date order of receipt in the Visa Office. The office apologises for any inconvenience this delay may cause. 1. Yes Caravans can travel on this route. To get an accurate price, just use the get a quote link. Some sailings have special offers in which caravans can sail for Free.

      10. Is the Kennel on the car deck manned? I was told if I didn’t; get a kennel I can bring my own carrier and put the dog in the kennel. Is this correct I am sure she will become very distressed if she has to stay in the car on her own. She is a small dog

        1. Hi Jackie

Dogs have to be pre-booked onboard. So you will have to state at the time of booking if your dog is going to go into the onboard kennels or will remain in your car. (so do no worry about not getting a kennel).

          By car

      11. Hi, I would love to go to Ireland & explore it in my motorhome but its very expensive(£278) when compared to a car(£70), can you tell me why its so expensive & is there any way of getting cheaper fares?…I don’t mind travelling at any time of day.

        1. Hi Grahame

Unfortunately we here at Ferry To Europe do not set the prices, these are determined by the operators, so we can’t help you on that front. Try choosing different dates. If you travel outwith school holidays the price should come down. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are usually the cheapest days to travel, so try selecting one of them if possible. Try choosing sailing times which aren’t peak operating times (first sailing and last sailing of the day). Hopefully this will help to bring the cost down.

      12. hello, How long does the trip from Fishguard to Rosslare take please. Are any resorts near Rosslare and dog friendly motels or hotels.

      13. Had the pleasure to ride on the Ferry with Globus tours to Ireland saw in your gift shop Christmas ornament with Irish quotes on them in a box of 4 how can I order them?

      14. Hi is it possible for you to let me know how early can we arrive with our caravan and car at the ferry as our ferry leaves at 2.30 in the morning thanks in advance

        1. Hi Dawn

Check in times for each route and craft are shown on your E-ticket and Reservation Advice. Please check this before travelling, as it will have all the details you need. I hope this helps.

        1. Your dog may travel in your motorhome free of charge on this route. Your dog unfortunately is not allowed onto the passenger decks.

Dogs can also travel in kennels on the car deck. However Stena Line do not take advance reservations and kennels are therefore issued on a first come basis.

        1. Guidelines from StenaLine website April 2012 ….

British or Irish citizens travelling on our Irish Sea routes do not need a passport to travel to Britain or Ireland but are advised to take a form of identity. A driving licence, citizenship card or utility bill will usually suffice. A birth certificate will provide adequate proof of identity for your child to travel on our sailings.

        2. There is No passport control between U.K. and Eire. Check the ferry for they will need some form of identification. Driver Licence . Bus Pass . Utility Bill
          Check with them
