Accessible Travel

Accessible Travel

We here at Ferry To Europe want to make travel accessible to everyone. So, whether you feel like you would benefit from a little extra help during your ferry crossing or just want a little extra information on the subject we will endeavour to help as best as we can.

If you or someone you are travelling with has a disability, hidden disability, or reduced mobility, we advise you to let the ferry operator know when booking. So that the correct level of assistance that you require for your travel can be arranged in advance.

Ferry operators (at the time of booking) will be able to alert you to possible scenarios where there may be one or two limitations in the service and facilities that they can provide:

  • The design of the ship or the port infrastructure and equipment, including terminals, may make it impossible to carry out embarkation, disembarkation, or carriage of the disabled passengers or those with reduced mobility in a safe or operationally feasible manner. In this scenario you may find it helpful to travel with an able-bodied companion to assist you during the voyage. Or to travel on a different vessel.
  • To comply with safety regulations, they may have to limit the number of passengers needing individual assistance on each crossing. In this scenario we would advise change the date or time of your sailing.

Our ferry operators will be able to arrange assistance either at the ports (assistance embarking or disembarking) or onboard their vessels (Disabled toilets, Wheelchair accessible cabins, lifts). These services are free of charge and are arranged on a first come, first served basis. So again, we stress the importance of notifying the operator as possible to ensure whatever help you require is sorted out in advance.

Each operator does things slightly differently, so here are some links directly to their pages:
