Travelling to England by ferry can be a short a time as 90 minutes from France. Alternatively it can be from 24-32 hours depending on whether you decide to take a one or two night cruise from Spain.
As well as direct ferries there are number of other options. You could try either a ferry to Scotland or a ferry to Wales and make the drive down to England. England, Scotland and Wales are all linked with a great motorway network.
If your taking your dog or small pet with you on your travels, then you are in luck. All ferries allow you to travel with dogs and small animals. Each ferry operator has its own policy and usually offer kennels for dogs. Whereas smaller animals will remain in your vehicle during the crossing.
