Getting to the Port
In Stromness, buses stop opposite the ferry terminal. Buses are operated by Stagecoach. The main bus route is from Stromness to Kirkwall, a distance of 16 miles. This passes Stenness for visitors keen to see Maeshowe, the Ring of Brodgar and the Standing Stones of Stenness.
Orkney Ferries operate a regular passenger ferry service from Stromness to Graemsay and Hoy and also operate all other inter-island services.
Kirkwall Airport is located 19 miles from Stromness. There is a regular bus service from Stromness to Kirkwall, and from Kirkwall to the airport, operated by Stagecoach. Inter-island services are operated by Loganair.

- Car parking is available nearby the Stromness Terminal, operated by Orkney Islands Council.
- Short Stay (pay and display) parking is available opposite the Stromness Ferry Terminal in the Stromness Ferry Terminal car park and the Ferry Inn car park.
- Long Stay (free of charge) parking is available at the Ferry Road car park, north of the Stromness Ferry Terminal, and in the Old Academy car park off the Back Road.
