Ferry from London to Ireland
Searching for a ferry from London to Ireland? While it may seem like a logical connection, there are no direct ferry services operating between London and any port in Ireland.
As a landlocked city with no passenger ferry terminal, London isn’t connected by sea routes to Ireland.
However, travelling from London to Ireland by ferry is still perfectly possible—and there are two straightforward and reliable alternatives depending on your preferred destination.
The first option is to drive from London to Liverpool, which takes around 4 to 5 hours by car. From Liverpool (Birkenhead terminal), you can catch the ferry to Belfast, operated by Stena Line. The service runs twice daily and caters to both vehicles and foot passengers. Once you arrive in Belfast, you’ll have easy access to the rest of Northern Ireland and beyond.
Liverpool To Ireland Ferries
Alternatively, if you’re heading to the Republic of Ireland, you can drive from London to Holyhead in North Wales—typically a 5 to 6 hour journey. From Holyhead, both Stena Line and Irish Ferries operate regular sailings to Dublin. This is one of the most popular and direct ferry routes into Ireland, offering multiple crossings daily and excellent onboard facilities.
Holyhead to Dublin Ferries
So, although a direct London to Ireland ferry doesn’t exist, travelling via Liverpool or Holyhead offers two excellent routes.
