Travelling to The Åland Islands by Ferry from Europe

If your traveling to The Åland Islands, you can currently sail directly from Finland and Sweden using Finnlines.

If you are sailing from Finland, you can take the Naantali to Långnäs. The sailing occurs onboard the Finnsirius and Finncanopus. The route takes 3.5 hours.

If you are sailing from Sweden to The Åland Islands, you can take the Kapellskär to Långnäs. The sailing occurs onboard the Finnsirius and Finncanopus. The route takes 8 – 9 hours.

Where to visit

Mariehamn – The capital of the Åland Islands. Is a charming coastal town situated in the heart of this unique archipelago in the Baltic Sea. Known as the “Town of a Thousand Linden Trees,”. It was founded in 1861 and named after Maria Alexandrovna, the Empress of Russia. Mariehamn is renowned for its vibrant maritime heritage, exemplified by its historic sailing ships and the Åland Maritime Museum.

Geta – A picturesque municipality in the northern part of the island, offers a serene escape with its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Known for its rugged cliffs, dense forests, and tranquil coastal views, Geta is a haven for nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers.

Finström – A scenic municipality in the central part of the island. It is renowned for its lush landscapes and rich history. As one of the oldest inhabited areas in Åland, Finström features a blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty.
