NHS COVID Passport
With the travel industry starting to open back up, many are requiring the proof of vaccination to demonstrate your Coronavirus status. To do this you will require a NHS COVID Passport.
*Please note, COVID Passports will not be the only requirement for travel. Please check the rules for the country you are travelling to. Failure to not follow all requirements may result in entry being denied.
What is a COVID Passport?
The NHS COVID Pass lets you share your coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination records or test COVID-19 status in a secure way. It allows you to show others the details of your COVID-19 vaccine (or vaccines) when travelling abroad to some countries or territories.
Who can get a COVID Passport?
If you’re aged 18 or over, you can get an NHS COVID Pass for travel, domestic venues and events.
If you’re aged 16 or over you can get an NHS COVID Pass for travel abroad but you should follow the entry requirements of the country you are travelling to.
Children are not currently being vaccinated against COVID-19. Therefore, those under 18 should not have to demonstrate their COVID-19 status for entry to domestic events or venues.
How can I get a COVID Passport?
You can get a digital version using the NHS App or NHS website. You can download it as a PDF or get it sent to you in an email. You can get a digital version by:
- downloading the NHS App – you must be registered with a GP surgery in England to use the app
- using the online NHS COVID Pass service
You can request a printed copy of your vaccination status online or by phoning the COVID-19 Status Helpline. Letters will be sent by first class post and should arrive within 14 days.
You can view and request to print your vaccination status online by logging in using your unique username and password. Your username and password can be found in your coronavirus vaccination appointment letter. Once you have signed in, you should select ‘vaccination status’ which will allow you to view and request to print your coronavirus vaccination record letter.
You can access your NHS COVID Pass for international travel online and download or print the Pass as a PDF document. It is recommended you register and use this service at least 2 weeks before you are due to travel.
To access the service, you’ll need to register for an NHS login if you do not have one already. To register for an NHS login you will need to upload a photo of your ID (passport, full UK driving licence, full European driving licence).
If you do not have photographic ID to get your NHS COVID Pass you’ll need to request a letter from 0300 303 5667.
This written confirmation is only available to people who have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in Northern Ireland. If you meet this criteria you can apply for your document.
