Missed Your Ferry Sailing

Missed Your Ferry Sailing

We have all been there. You have lost track of time and end up rushing out the door, only to get stuck in a massive traffic jam. The result, you have missed your ferry crossing. After your emotions calm down (rage at being stuck in a traffic jam, fear of missing the ferry, then finally the crushing disappointment that you have missed the ferry), what can you actually do? Here at Ferryto.eu we have complied a guide to help you in this very situation.

Brittany Ferries

You must contact us within 24 hours. (Telephone: 0330 159 7000)

The cost will depend on the type of ticket you hold. If you are on a non-promotional ticket you would generally pay a £20 administration fee plus any difference in the sailing costs, to amend to a different date/sailing.

For promotional fares please see the conditions attached at the time of booking, as these will vary. If you are unsure of the ticket type please call us.

DFDS

All tickets are sold on a reservation basis and you must travel at your specified time and date. If you missed your sailing, you have no claim for refund or credits of the amount paid for the trip.

On our English Channel services, if you miss your ferry crossing for any reason, you can transfer free of charge (subject to availability) to the sailing directly after your original booked crossing time. If you have purchased a Flexi ticket this transfer window is extended to 72 hours.

Irish Ferries

If you miss your sailing we will do everything possible to transfer you to the next available Irish Ferries sailing. You will be charged an amendment fee plus any difference in fare. There is no refund due for unused tickets.

Stena Line

We will endeavour to book you onto the next Stena Line sailing, subject to availability. You may be charged an amendment fee depending on your ticket type plus any difference in fare. Please note that unused tickets are not refunded.

P&O Ferries

P&O Ferries amendment policy is dependant on which route you are sailing on. So the exact route you are travelling on will have to be selected in order to see what fees you will be charged for. Below is some general information.

We appreciate that it’s frustrating to miss your ferry so we have put together some information below that relates to each ticket type should this situation arise.

  • If you are travelling with a Saver ticket your ticket will be re-priced based on the new sailing information
  • A £20 amendment fee will apply

Standard Flexi ticket

  • If you are travelling with a Standard Flexi ticket your ticket will be re-priced based on the new sailing information and no amendment fee will apply.

Fully Flexi & Premier ticket

  • If you are travelling with a Fully Flexi or Premier ticket you will not need to pay any extra and no amendment fee will apply if you are keeping to the same duration and booking details – e.g. same vehicle type, extras.
